Don’t worry, Darling – OIivia Wilde’s forthcoming period drama will not be Harry Styles’ sole film this year.

The first teaser photographs for My Policeman, the love drama in which Styles stars with Emma Corrin from The Crown and David Dawson from The Last Kingdom, were published today (June 9). My Policeman is based on Bethan Roberts’ 2012 novel of the same name, set in 1957 Brighton, England, where Styles’ Officer Tom hides his sexuality by dating a schoolteacher called Marion (Corrin) while also having an illegal connection with a museum curator named Patrick (Dawson).

The angst-filled LGBT film also bounces back and forth between the 1950s and the 1990s, depicting the characters as they grow older, with Linus Roache, Gina McKee, and Rupert Everett as Tom, Marion, and Patrick, respectively.

“Tom’s entire point is that he is a character who is perplexed.” In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, director Michael Grandage said, “It’s made more complicated by the fact that he’s a police officer, and he’s in a vocation that is about defending the law.” “And the legislation in the nation at the time is about everything he feels — the intricacy of it is something that whomever was going to portray younger Tom and adult Tom had to comprehend and internalise in some way.”

Styles, Corrin, and Dawson are dressed in stylish ’50s costumes in front of framed museum artworks in one sombre first-look shot; in another, Styles — a perpetually wet boy — is reclining in a pool with wet hair.

Grandage did not contemplate putting Styles in the picture until his staff informed him that Styles had read the script with considerable enthusiasm, according to the magazine. Harry’s acting resume at the time only included a minor role in the 2017 war drama Dunkirk as British Army soldier Alex. (He’s also had a not-so-hidden appearance as Eros/Starfox in Marvel’s Eternals since then.)

He was immediately pleased when he met the “Watermelon Sugar” vocalist for the first time. “At that meeting, he had read the screenplay so many times that he understood every single beat of it.” He remarked, “I thought that really amazing.” “Not only did he know other people’s lines, but he also knew all of his own.” He understood why he wanted to discuss it, why one scenario worked one way and another worked the other.”

This fall will be the perfect time to visit Harry’s House. My Policeman will have a limited theatrical release on October 21 and will be accessible to watch on Prime Video on November 4th. Don’t Worry, Darling will be released in theatres on September 23.

Since the release of his third studio album, Harry’s House, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and various other charts in several countries, Styles has been on top of the charts. The album’s lead single, “As It Was,” is still at No. 1, and three tracks from the album have charted in the Top 10: “Late Night Talking” (No. 4), “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” (No. 8) and “Matilda” (No. 10). (No. 9).
